Microneedling

Byron Bay

Microneedling - or ‘Collagen Induction Therapy’ uses a series of tiny microneedles to create microinjuries in the skin that are invisible to the naked eye. This triggers the release of growth factors and anti-ageing mechanisms in the skin.

The result is increased collagen production, smoother skin and a more even complexion.

We use TGA Approved and evidence-based treatments at Dr Tranter Aesthetics and trust SkinPen Precision as our device of choice.

All our microneedling treatments include post-treatment Bio-cellulose mask and Healite II LED as standard, because we believe in delivering the best for your skin - no “add-ons” here.

MICRONEEDLING SPECIAL!

How does microneedling work?

An evidence-based 3 step process for skin rejuvenation

Designed to work without delivering heat or chemicals to the skin, it is safe for all skin types. By activating the skin’s natural healing process, microneedling improves the skin, helping it look more renewed and rejuvenated over time.

  • SkinPen’s microneedles pierce the skin, triggering your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue.

  • The micro-wounds created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

  • The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels which are comprised of rich collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin youthfulness.

Indications:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Enlarged pores

  • Acne and acne scarring - both textural and post-inflammatory pigmentation and redness

  • Uneven skin texture

  • Neck rejuvenation

  • Scars and stretch marks

We incorporate microneedling in our hair loss treatment protocol. If you’re experiencing thinning or shedding hair, then microneedling is an evidence-based solution that could be right for you.

Rejuvenate your skin and smooth uneven texture and acne scars in as little as 3 treatments.

For most of our patients we recommend an initial course of 3-6 treatments, spaced apart by 4 weeks.

We then suggest a maintenance treatment every 3-4 months.

We include a post treatment mask and Healite II LED as standard because our protocol focuses on triggering a controlled healing process in the skin. By incorporating LED phototherapy, we are encouraging the inflammatory processes that stimulate collagen production and skin rejuvenation, and dampening down any potential for uncontrolled - and potentially chronic - inflammation.

We believe that you should get the best out of your treatment and not have to pay extra for something that is proven to maximise the treatment you’re having.

  • Our entire SkinPen treatment typically takes 45 minutes to complete, but this time may vary based on your specific needs. It’s all done in a matter of a few simple steps.

    1. Our therapist gently cleanses your skin.

    2. If you opt for it, a topical anesthesia is applied to minimise discomfort.

    3. Lift hydrogel is applied to your neck, to help SkinPen glide smoothly across your skin.

    4. SkinPen creates millions of controlled microchannels to target natural collagen and promote your body’s natural healing process.

  • Our microneedling treatments are delivered by experienced dermal therapists, and are safe and effective. However all cosmetic treatments carry a small degree of risk.

Most commonly people experience redness and skin irritation after the procedure.

    Other side effects could include:

    • swelling

    • discomfort at the site

    • bruising

    • dryness

    • flaking of the skin

Bleeding is an uncommon reaction to microneedling, though it may be more likely to occur after a deeper treatment.

Bleeding may also be more of a risk for people who have bleeding disorders or who are taking blood-thinning medications. It is important to disclose this information to our doctor or therapist before receiving this treatment.

There is also a risk of more serious side effects, including:

    • infection

    • skin pigment changes

    • reaction to topical medications used during treatment

Finally, some people are not candidates for microneedling treatment, including those with:

    • an active skin infection

    • keloid scarring

    • an unstable skin type

  • Before the procedure we recommend you discuss any medications you are taking with your treating therapist or doctor. We advise that you stop taking certain medications, such as ibuprofen and those for acne treatment (like Accutane), well in advance of the procedure.

It’s also recommended that you avoid using agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin. For example we ask that you don’t use topical retinoids and exfoliants in the 3-5 days before your microneedling appointment.

Please come to your appointment without any make up and a clean face.

  • Immediately after the treatment and for up to 48-72 hours after the treatment your skin will feel sensitive and looks red or flushed, like a sunburn.

By following the right aftercare, your skin will heal quickly and you’ll get the most out of the treatment for maximal results.

    We recommend:

    • Avoid wearing make up for 24 hours

    • Avoid the hot showers and/or baths, the gym, sauna, steam room for 24 hours

    • Use a gentle cleanser and light, oil free moisturiser. We have skincare available at the clinic and we will also send you home with a post-treatment serum and balm to use for the first few days.

    • Protect your skin from UV and use sunscreen

    • Avoid touching or picking the skin

    • Avoid alcohol for a few days after the treatment

    • Follow up with your therapist as scheduled
